Well, its been a few days and no one was doing anything on the board so i decided to do something.
Welcome To The after chronicles realm!
I shall be your host, DC_Desperado.
Here is a place were the Shinnoken faculty and play-testers can gather and ask questions and share ideas. As previously stated any developments of race and/or class can shall be submited to me via private message or PM as they call it, or E-mail. For those of you that do not have my E-mail address I shall provide it at the bottom of this message.
Now, do keep in mind that the questions and ideas of every individual are all equally valid and shall be treated with respect. That having been said, those of you that have questions to ask, please make your questions and/or statements valid to the topic or topics being discussed. If there is a question or questions about what should be in the rule book, please reference the rule book to varify that the problem hasn't already been resolved.
I shall eventually post the rulebook up on the board and make updates as they come along.
As for now, please make yourselves comfortable and relax, and please do not be afraid to ask questions and post ideas.

After long deliberation, I bring to you, any incomplete version of the "Kalarsys: The After Chronicles" rule book. now i say incomplete because there are some key things missing. like a complete weapons compendium, history, ect. however this document is what I, myself have been using to get test sessions off the ground and collecting some serious data. Do look for the next update to the book.. i will post it when its ready. Oh, i'm not quite sure how often Druken is on the board, but I'd like to request help from him. Druken, I humbly request your assistance in the creation of the history ot the After Chronicles. I have seen much of your work with words. ( mainly from you wrestling federation with bryce glacier) I can see that leaving the tales of the world in your hands would result in an epic story for all to hold in high regard. Of course, if you accept, i'm sure all of us would be happy to assist you in any means. Thank you for your consideration, DC_Desperado Lurid, I was thinking a little more towards the use of magic in combat. I was thinking that instead of the magic's attack going againts a person's VIT ( whether its VIT/2 or just straight VIT) it would go against an opponents INT or WIL. <-- haven't decided on one yet. My thinking on this was sparked by the session im currently running. One of my players has created a Defender, and has done quite a good job make one at that. He hardly takes damage in battle, which is what a defender is supposed to do, but he walks into battle with a somewhat " Oh another battle, ok, i'll go soak the dmg." kind of personallity. I was hoping that by magic damage this way it would be the bane of most defenders... thus giving them a sense of mortallity. let me know what you think. I certainly agree that Defenders need a little something to fear. I think Willpower would make more sense to act as a magical defense, but I'm open to others' opinions.
I'm downloading the new book now. I'll be reading it over tonight, probably.

I think WIL would make sense not just because Willpower is a common way of judging magic resistance, it also make sense because it is also key in judging HP. So i think that will fit perfectly for what we need.

I was reading the book and I thought of a couple of things:
1. Your book needs edited. :-p 2a. The copy of the core rulebook you've included is more out of date than I thought. 2b. The core rulebook has some big open holes I need to fill (if you know what I mean). 3. Does the core rulebook need to be included in The After Chronicles's book? 4. The After Chronicles needs to be re-organized.
1. I could do some editing for you and if you like the end result we can keep it and if not we can just stick with what you have.
2a. I think you're using a 0.6 version of the book. Most stuff hasn't changed much, but there are a few place where things have changed. If we include a core rulebook, it should be a newer one.
2b. Of course, before we can include a newer core rulebook, maybe I should finish writing it. Can I safely exclude the Sypre chapter? I don't think we'll be finishing that anytime soon. As much as I'd like to include Spyre and all that in the core rulebook, it's holding everything else back. Tossing that out (for now) would bring the book actually really close to completion as soon as we hammer out a few rules (such as increasing abilities and removing flaws).
3. Then there's the question of whether The After Chronicles should have a copy of the book embedded in it at all. Personally, I don't mind, but the formatting they use is consistent, and thus it looks kind of weird.
4. The separation between The After Chronicles and the core rulebook isn't obvious enough, I think. And the history, which is an explanation of the setting, should come first, not the weapons and weapon materials. Unless that is supposed to be in the core rulebook, though I was going to just include a few simple example weapons and armor pieces and leave durability to expansion books. I like the idea of durability, but including it in the core rulebook, the most basic set of rules for playing the game, may confuse newcomers.

The core book that i used in the after chronicles was the most to date one I had at the time... that however is no longer the problem. It really doesn't matter to me if the core book is in the after chronicles. I just felt that if a newcomer forgoed getting the core book and went straight to the expansions then he/she would not be completely in the dark and would not be cursing us or themselve out for not getting the core book first and have then wasted some time.
Yes I do know that the book is horrible out of order in ways of functionality i pretty much started typing up the ideas in the order that they came to me or Scott. If you really want to take on the task of reorginizing the book for me, more power to ya, just don't start changing information. ( enless its a more up to date version of the core book if thats going in)
As Spyre... we all really need to talk about this. and apoint someone to make the map. I know I ask druken to do the story to the after chronicles. I truely feel that when we get all our information together it should be Druken that does the final revision.
You can use the weapons that I have in the core book if you want. as for the durabillity.... I can understand why that would be a rule more for veterans.

(risking the double post)
:UPDATE:
This information is currently not present in the book.
The following are the current projects that in aware of at this time.
Kirkwood: Researching a character class known as "Fighter". These people let there fists do the talking. what seperates a "Fighter" from an "Artorian" is that a "Fighter" has the abillity to combo its attack chain. Meaning that if all the requirments are met a "Fighter can hit multiple times. Again that is only if the requirments are met. Those requirments are as followed. - Combo can not exceed the prof level. - Combo points (CP) spent have to be equal to the amount of attacks. - Pass fate roll. - *Can only chain attack if attack hits. * there has been some debate on if the target barely dodges if the chain can continue. - if chain is interrupted... CP is not refunded. - not race restricted
DC_D: Researching character class "Thief". I do believe we dont need a description on them. The player that choose the "Thief" class chooses one of two profs, "Pickpocketing" or "lock picking" both pretty self explanitory. - not race restricted.
All: There has been discussion between Hawk and I about specialized attacks.
Example: An "Assassin" That masters his "cape of shadows" prof and the "Bow" prof, would be able to spend some points to shoot and arrow into a shadow and have the same arrow come at its target from another shadow.
Let me know what you think of this idea. it seems reasonable to me seeing that to do a special attack you'd have to spend a lot of xp just to get there... if you willing to go all the way, might as well give them a reward.
There have been minor edits and changes to the book. nothing worth posting a whole new book. Though the way we use bows have come into question a few times. I may need someone to re-explain how it is done. I could possibly be doing something wrong.
anywho thats all I have to report.

it looks pretty good and all, but the races should prolly get fully detailed and done before things like this are worked on? same with how classes are made, its hard to figure just how a person becomes a zenshou. let alone a few other things, like eidolons beliefs and much more. it just seems like a few things need fine tuned before more classes are really added. just how distinctly different are the races? all of them just look like humans with small changes orr..?

This may help with the bows: luridsworld.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=demons&action=display&thread=118Zain brings up some points that bug me quite a bit. Races and classes really, really need to have their descriptions written. We need to know a lot more about the who these races are and how they go about taking on their classes. If you would like, I wouldn't mind taking on this task (under your guidance and direction, of course). Also, for the history of the world, I think that's something we all need to brainstorm for, not just dump onto one person.

currently... I am more concerned about all the game calculations then I am the cosmetics... Yes knowing the differences between the races and classes and how they all came to be is an important step; But first I would like to make sure that everything actually works before dressing it up and sending it out to play with the neighbors. I understand that the history should be something that everyone has a say in, so i propose that everyone submit certain event in history that they would like to have happened with the time and date in which it happened, and when we get a history for the race/ classes and how the world began; we would then submit all the info in timeline order to druken and have him write it out. I truely believe that he is far supirior when it comes to typing out a tale.(also, just a thought but, Spyre really doesnt need a story on how it came to be. thats what the religons can cover. every religon can have a creation story and we can leave it at that.)
As for races, the book has a description on how the races look. At least the major parts. You don't need a full on description to test the systems. ... like i said, I want to make sure all the calculations ans equations balance out before i start fitting stories and detailed descriptions to everything.
Lurid, If you really want to come up with histories of class creation. You can feel free to submit any information you have and I would be more than happy to look it over.

wellllllllllllllllll...all the formulas and explanations for the races would be better then the cosmetics of course. but still prooves my argument of focusing on making it playable before adding much more classes

Adding classes is a minor detail. Its not even a ripple in the pond of this project. Yes, it does add more equations and sometimes i welcome the distraction. Its not an easy task trying to think of how the classes got created and how to become one. I'm almost half tempted to say that how a character becomes a certain class is decided by the talespinner. The talespinner may want the ritual for your class to be different than the one listed. I do agree fully with you though Zain, I would rather have the game in a full on working condition before delving deeper into the visual aspects of the game.
However I am not saying for anyone to stop production on any race/ class that they have been working on, and to not feel timid about bringing the information forward. I am always happy to see the fruits of our labor, and will work with any class/ race to make it a unique part of the kalarsys world. Granted that the race/class does not have any munchkinized characteristic.

Just to clarify, the rituals involved in someone becoming an Eidolon or Zenshou or trains to become a Figher has nothing to do with "cosmetics" or "histories." They have deep role-playing consequences and they need to be determined. You're right, though, that these right now are secondary whereas balancing out the systems is primary. For some reason, last night I had this really crazy idea of how people could become Zenshou. (Are we picking a different name for them?) I'll finish typing it up and probably submit it tomorrow. I am always happy to see the fruits of our labor, and will work with any class/ race to make it a unique part of the kalarsys world. Granted that the race/class does not have any munchkinized characteristic. So it's pretty much guaranteed that Perilaxis won't be making any races or classes? ;D

He has submitted an "idea" to me. I had to assume the role of the games filter and had to change things here and there. after that however... i havent heard much talk about that class and race so i'm assuming that he has decided the scrap the idea. His decision... not mine.

I have not scrapped the race/class idea. time constraints involving work and the holidays have delayed a full write up involving them and due to my nature of wanting munchkinized characters I am taking it VERY slowly and carefully so I create a unique, fair, and decidedly NOT godlike race/class. My ideas should have some semblance of "completion" and I use that term lightly shortly after the first of the year.
