Most of what we came up for the Zenshou, however, was that they travel in packs, eat uncooked food, can shift their Zenshou parts into human form but are more comfortable in Zenshou form, and finally that their elders know rituals for bringing people in and removing people from the pack. These initiation and excommunication rituals would result in the development and removal of the Zenshou parts, as well as the tendency to eat only raw food and what-not. I think what you mentioned goes along well with this, DC_D.

In a way yes... I was thinking that the bone piece is what would activate the second strand of DNA in some kind of ritual...

That makes sense to me. Well, as much sense as it needs to make in a fantasy setting, anyway. I like it.

In all honesty i think you guys are making the Zenshou more complicated than it needs to be. How about EVERYONE has a second strand of dna, Zenshou in there training learn how to tap into it. Just as everyone else does.

GMidge, I'm not sure how suggesting what was already said in slightly different terminology makes it a simpler and better solution.
If you have suggestions, we'd love to see what they are, hawk.

So i have been thinking for the freelancers to become an eidolon they have to travel to a temple but once you reach the edge of the forest in which the temple is located there are two seperate paths (or more if more eidolon sub-classes developed) and depending on which they choose it will decide the type of eidolon they become

To step away from the classes for but a moment... over the past few days i have..... returned to my roots as it were, seeing a few old cartoons playing a few old games and most importantly looking over a few admittedly dated characters I started to think about the magic system we have in place for the eidolons. Coming up with a few new concepts in the process I think that if we (that is to say those of us that play the after chronicles down in renoldsville once or twice a week) don't have (or aren't working on) a set of strict, no nonsense rules relating to how it functions and what its definite limits are, we should.
Aside from restrictions that have been placed saying you can do one or the other in terms of attack or healing and a defined idea of how lucid and overt spells work (and a rule on how to soak said damage) we have a list of spells that while as of yet rather unexplored is rather loosely controlled. This, for both my purposes as a character generator and as a player who really doesn't like to waste needless time arguing with the TS over what can be or cannot be allowed, is unacceptable.
In an effort to speed the process I have already asked DC a series of questions relating to barriers and illusions but between that time and now a few more thoughts have popped into my head that (when given proper time for development and roles) could make eidolons all but completely unstoppable.
Barriers: Don't move when they are cast you put them down and they don't move unless they break Do not need an anchor but if they have one can move in relation to that anchor Can be "tuned" to let certain things in or out but unless otherwise specified is completely impermeable even to air Cannot be used to attack (I thought up a couple ways to try too all were shot down with sound logical backing) Can be shaped in any way the caster chooses (the jury is still out on whether or not this changes how they work in a battle situation so help with that would be nice) a few questions: Could the color (and yes in certain situations I think this is important) be manipulated as the shape can In that vein could it be made invisible or near invisible Could it be made reflective or screen like (as in TV or Movie) Would a caster be able to mimic the feel of certain materials such as cloth or perhaps steel or the properties of said materials so as to be flexible or resonating
Illusions: Actually these are mostly questions If one were causing blindness or deafness ect how many senses could they affect at one time Should there be a range such as line of sight for where you can place them Can you affect an area or just one person with certain types Could an illusion affect someone on an unconcios level (for example could you trick a person's brain into thinking their heart isn't beating and give them a heart attack from the body automatically trying to correct the problem) How much "figment damage" would it take to put a person into sytem shock (say I have an ogre illusion fighting and part of the illusion is the ogre delivering a blow that should for all rights kill my opponent because its an illusion it cant do real damage but if the mind believes you should be dead wouldn't you at least be unconsious) Does it require constant attention and focus to keep and illusion going if it is one like stated in the example above or could you cast it and then have it simply play out To modify an exsisting illusion does it cost mana if its your own (what about if you are actively controling it does it cost mana then)
That is it for now I have more but those are curently what I seem to find most pressing.

There seems to be problems arraising from the Zenshou Character class that I feel needs to be addressed... of course, with brainstorming and idea bouncing, I have a solution i will post to the problem but i want to get a group opinnion on the topic.
I has come to my attention that Zenshous have become our "Skies are the limit" type character class. What i mean by this... is if a person so chooses so... that could make there zenshou form as turtle with front and back claws... fangs.... a beak.... wings.... furry sides... and shits fire.... and spits venom. This is completely outragous... ( and if someone can find a pic of the turtle described above... that would be amazing).... so the solution acheived to bring the zenshous down to a normal level... would have a three part limit. 1.) Defensive ( fur, scales, exoskeleton) 2.) Weapon 3.) 2nd weapon... or an addition (glands, wings, ...ect)
im not saying that a zenshou can only have 3 parts.... the talespinner can give a zenshou a new part that has to be binded to the character via ritual or what not.... but starting would be a limit of 3.
in other news there has been discussion of further seperating the eidolon magics..... almost to the single spell type level.... like the test to be an Eidolon would be a pilgramage to a "temple" or shrine or ect.... and the place you go to would decide the magic you learn you control....
there will be more on this tropic as it developes.... and thats the news.....
p.s. also be on the lookout for the offical After chronicles world map BETA!

That sounds to me like a reasonable limit for the Zenshous. Also, I'm very excited to see that map! GIMMIE!! Oh, and by the way...

At long last there is finally an official After Chronicles map. Notice that there are three continents they have nothing marked on them. This overlook is 100% intentional. This lack of visual data will allow Talespinnrs to use these places to how they see fit. This wy talespinners are not imaginitively confined to a single world development and can still let there creative juices flow as they weave the story for there players.... I truely hope that you enjoy it... and happy gaming. P.S. Do to an overflow of ideas and lack of willingness to seperate them all individually... Kalarsys: The After Chronicles Encyclopedia, Timeline, ect... Are to merge into Kalarsys: The After Chronicles Ver. 0.3! Be on the look out for this book for its jam pack with new classes! ( damn i sound like a commercial) Release date: End of April - Mid June Attachments:

Woot! I should have posted to break the double-post for you.
I'm excited to see it. Maybe I'll get to work on one of the millions of projects I keep dropping (GUI NPCGen/KDice, Kalarsys Kompendium, copyrighting the book, etc...)
