In this thread I hope to chronicle the adventures of Veror, Monay, Felicia and Vince as they travel from Moset and into the unknown.
Moset is a small town, with a population around 1000, that is roughly 20 miles west of Revorlet. It is tucked away between hilly forests in all four directions, a few miles to the north of which lies a tall mountain range. Travelers often pass through to rest on their way to Revorlet and rarely stay for any other services. Moset's inn, The Sleepy Cat, is very large, popular, and well-staffed. The food is excellent and the beds are comfortable and clean. Their prices are a bit higher than other inns across the land, but the quality makes up for it and the employees see their share of compensation. Moset is ruled by Count Leonard, a kind ruler who is aware of Moset's position as a gateway to Revorlet and firmly believes that there is a mutual and beneficial relationship between the two cities.
At the beginning of our tale, a mysterious and silent knight, adorned from head to toe in silver armor and riding on horseback, who was accompanied by two twin assistants dressed in tattered leather caps and chainmail, made his way through town looking for adventurers to accompany them on a mission. The knight, named Johnathan Raysor Esq., and the twins, named Paul and James, made promises of huge cash rewards in exchange for a two-day adventure in a cave up north. The journey was to acquire a ring that was stolen from Raysor's father.
Veror, a Shade and respected actor, is a man who worked at a theater in Moset. He was the first to be asked, and it was evident right away that on occasion he would spontaneously explode onto an overly-dramatic prose, in which he seemed to act as though his life were a theater piece. It was in this way that he said his goodbyes after agreeing to meet the knight and his journeymen at the inn at 8PM that night.
Next was Monay, a woman who worked at the clinic in Moset. In our world, it was decided that Eidolon healers would only be willing to offer their services in life-or-death situations or when the doctors of other means could not handle a particular patient. Monay, a young doctor, was asked to accompany the gentlemen and offer her medical knowledge if it became required. She agreed, and packed her things in preparation of meeting them at the inn at 8PM.
Finally, Felicia, a Shade woman and the daughter of The Sleepy Cat's owner, was asked to join the troupe. She was told that her cooking talents, well-known throughout town, would be greatly appreciated during the journey. Unsure of whether she should go, she was reassured when her father paused his sexual harassment of their barmaid Ryla to urge her to go on the trip. Partially for the money and partially to get away from her lecherous father for a while, she agreed to go.
That night they traveled out of the town a ways. When they stopped to camp, Veror dazzled everyone with his Illusion magic and Felicia impressed everyone with a quick meal.
The next day they resumed their travel and made it to the cave in the side of the mountains. On the way that passed by two gentlemen dressed in loose clothing, with white shirts and dark blue pants. Upon entering the cave, the group began exploring and searching for the ring. They came across more people dressed in clothes similar to the ones the men the group had passed were wearing. Near the right shoulders of the baggy, white shirts was an emblem of a snake constricting an eagle. Raysor and the twins immediately began slaughtering these men on sight, with Raysor easily cleaving men in half with one swing of his gigantic sword.
One man they came across offered a letter to the twins and their master. This man was spared and joined the party. He revealed his name to be Vince.
"What the Hell? Are you betraying us, Vince?"
Vince answered without hesitation, "Yes."
During their encounters, one of the twins was defeated in battle. As he laid dying on the ground, Monay tried to make him comfortable and Veror used his Illusion magic to make him believe he had obtained the ring. This allowed the man to reach the end of this life peacefully, and the group took a moment to mourn the loss and moved onward.
Finally they came to a huge room, filled with ten men of the sort they'd seen before and one other man. Standing at the back of the room was a huge man wearing dark gray plate armor and holding a huge axe. The two groups descended upon each other and battled until the gray knight and the Esquire were fighting one-on-one.
Raysor's helmet was knocked off during the fight, revealing him to have the face that would be befitting of a three-year-old corpse. The party, stunned, tries to figure out just what is going on. The gray knight finally finished off Raysor, but was mortally wounded. The remaining twin shouts that their plan will not be thwarted so easily and that they'll be back. With that he ran from the cave at top speed while the group listened to what the remaining knight had to say.
He revealed to the group that they need to prevent them from getting the ring at all costs. He handed them a small, wooden box and told them to travel to Revorlet and take a boat south to Dreden, from which they are to travel southwest to Seyrye and deliver the box to the prince there.
The group traveled back to Moset and explained the situation to the count. He laughed at them and had them sent on their way. They group rested up at the clinic in preparation of the journey that was laid out ahead of them.
