And to avoid 'beefing' up any other stats, there should be some sort of limit as to how much a particular stat can be raised per session... for example, if a player gets exp in str, they wouldn't be allowed to spend their freebie exp on that unless if the TS decides it. Then again, of course, we come back to the problem of deciding which exactly would be suitable for a session online...

Lets keep in mind that Kalarsys is about keeping roleplaying simple. Okay, here's what I think we should do:
Let's go with Zain's idea and go with a "level as you use" system, but have combat level things up slower than anything else. Any thoughts?

Well, it sounds good in theory... we'll see what happens. If it doesn't work out, we can always come back here and brainstorm again.

Or what you could have is in times that the "TS" has an idea of where they are going and has planned out story 'goals' or chapters of a campaign already thought of, it would be possible to divvy EXP then. That's the way it should work in D&D as you experience at the end of or at the conclusion of part of the campaign.
And you give more experience to those that play the more pivotal roles and leadership. And participation upon circumstances is totally upto the discretion of the "TS".
Or you could set up a timeframe where we get EXP for like a fortnight or something at a time.
...ideas gone....

Uh, everything up to the puppies is good, Druken. Okay, I'll try using both the "Level as you use" and "EXP for completing chapters" ideas. If things get too chaotic, we can always all die and start over. I'm sure I could work that into this half-assed, experimental piece of crap I'm going to run.

Unless someone else would like to run a half-assed, experimental piece of crap in my stead.
