Thanks to the magic of metadata, I've discerned that Kalarsys was created on 3/18/2004.
When I discovered one of my original webhosts still had some of my files up, I snapped them up quickly, and one of them was the first Kalarsys book. Here's a picture of the properties:
"But Lurid!" I can hear a chorus of you say, "The title says DEMONS, not Kalarsys, you dolt!"
Demons was the predecessor to Kalarsys. In fact, if you scroll your little eyes up to the address bar of your browser, you'll see it is the unique name of the Kalarsys section of this message board.
For those that don't know, here's the Reader's Digest version: Demons was a simplistic, six-sided dice RPG I created to satisfy my role-playing need when I couldn't play the complex Dungeons & Dragons or Vampire: The Masquerade with DrukenHammer and his buddies. It ripped off Inuyasha, which was new at the time, and allowed the player to be one of many types of animal-based demons. Kalarsys dispensed with this rigid system and allowed for humans, demons, eidolons and vampires to all be played. The first games were played with me, DC_Desperado and Perilaxis.
Going back further, I had created a couple of RPG games using stuffed animals and action figures with Lt. Pwnage. He and I played these briefly, ripping off concepts from Final Fantasy games (particularly VII and VIII) and Fire Emblem Gaiden. DC_Desperado and I picked up these concepts and gave them more structure, which lead to the development of Demons. Lt. Pwnage and I drifted apart, but he coincidentally ended up befriending Perilaxis, who brought him into a game he (perhaps unknowingly) had a hand in creating.
I can't promise that this date is correct, but it certainly sounds like it's in the right ballpark, so I'm going to go with it. Then, I'll cry in a year and eight months when Kalarsys turns ten years old and hasn't been published yet.
