So, who wants to help foster the triumphant return of Support and Curse magic?
It pained me to remove these magic types from the core rulebook, but they were severely broken, and it was clear that the paradigms at their foundation were flawed beyond repair. However, I may have discovered a new way to handle these magical abilities.
It works like this: Instead of adding dice, to roll, dice are re-rolled. For Support (which I may rename to Bless, or some other appropriate name, and I'm open to suggestions), the lowest die is re-rolled, and the higher result is kept. The player is granted one re-roll for each point the spellcaster had in their Support/Bless/Buff/Empower magic skill, and the effect lasts for one round for each success they had on their Magic Accuracy.
For Curse, it works much the same way, except that the highest results are re-rolled, keeping the lower of the scores.
The exact specifics of these are yet to be determined (obviously, I just thought of this so no playtesting has been done). A few questions remain, and I'd like some thoughts on them.
1.) Should these affect all rolls the player makes, or just specific ones? How specific? (All offensive or all defensive, vs. select ACC, Damage, EVA, or Defense)
2.) How long should the effect last? (One round per MACC success, vs. One roll per MACC success)
3.) Should the re-rolls be done all at once, or one at a time?
Thanks for reading, and I look forward to reading your feedback and testing this out!
